Jon Cartwright is a freelance journalist and director of Three Quarks Editorial, based in Bristol, UK.
As a journalist, Jon specializes in science and has a particular interest in its history, culture and effects on society. His articles have appeared in Science, Nature, New Scientist, The Observer, The Daily Telegraph, Prospect, the Times Higher Education, Sky at Night, Physics World and Chemistry World.
Three Quarks Editorial provides tailored science writing and editing services, primarily for academic institutions. Clients have included the European Synchrotron and its regular ESRFnews magazine, Horizon (which is published on behalf of the European Commission), Lund University and the European Spallation Source.
Jon graduated with a Masters in Physics from the University of Bristol in 2006. He immediately went to work for the Institute of Physics Publishing, where he wrote for two industry titles before taking a role as a general science reporter for the academic magazine Physics World. He went freelance at the start of 2009, and formed Three Quarks Editorial in 2020.
